Baldur's Gate 3 Gameplay & Release Date Reveals

After almost a year since it’s first official announcement, Baldur’s Gate 3 gameplay and release date finally revealed. To think about it, it’s been 20 years after the last Baldur’s Gate series which is Baldur’s Gate 2. And now, PC gamers can finally celebrate for their one of the best RPG games revival.

A few days ago, on PAX East, Larian Studio reveal their first full gameplay demo including some info about Baldur’s Gate 3 release date. They also present new official opening cinematic in 4K to demonstrate how great this game is.

And for you, Baldur’s Gate fans who don’t get a chance to go to PAX East, here we’ll provide you with some detail about Baldur’s Gate 3 gameplay and release date.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Gameplay Demo

From what Larian Studio gives on PAX East 1 hour gameplay demo, it looks like they made many changes in the gameplay aspect. Even though, the overall gameplay is still quite similar to the previous title. So it won’t make fans mad.

But one of the biggest changes they made is now you can choose either 3rd person views or classic isometric views. Since Baldur’s Gate 3 has a greater graphic, it will be very noticeable when you play it on 3rd person view. But if you prefer the classic isometric style, which is very memorable in gaming history, it won’t be a problem either.

Talk about graphic, this game really has greater graphic comparing to the previous titles. Baldur’s Gate 3 graphic is a next-gen quality. You can even visit some in-game place with mesmerizing views. Other than that, Larion Studio also has revealed Baldur’s Gate cinematic trailer in 4K which very beautiful.

Another change in Baldur’s Gate 3 is that you can create or character more choices. Even though they didn’t show about cosmetic options in PAX East, but they do reveal that you could make character from different races. Including human, drow, tieffling, githyanki, dwarf, elf, half-drow, half-elf, and Halfling.

Other than that, also could choose varieties classes like Cleric, Fighter, Wizard, Ranger, Warlock, and Rogue. There’s also some character background like Nobile, Folk Hero, Criminal, and Charlatan.

As for the combat aspect, this game has a similar combat style like Divinity: Original Sin II. But there’s some differences in sneaking style. Baldur’s Gate 3 has a much detailed system which makes your sneaking effective or not based on when and where you hide. If you hide on the roof at a day, it’s obvious you’ll get discovered immediately. But if you hide in some grass or doing it at night, your chance to get discovered is lower.

Another Baldur’s Gate gameplay aspect you need to know is the death system. Unlike any other game, you’ll get death feeling once you starting low on HP. Then, you’ll enter downed state where you can make a saving throw every turn. If you succeed three times or below, you’ll be back and well again. But if you not, you’ll still get attacked by monster until you HP really runs out. The thing is, Larian Studio explains that they haven’t established the damage balance between player and monster yet. So it’s likely that the game will extremely hard but still beatable.

And don’t forget that this game will come out with multiplayer features. They’ve also confirmed that there’ll be a co-op split-screen multiplayer and online multiplayer.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Release Date Revealed

Even though there is no exact release date yet, but Larian Studio announce that Baldur’s Gate release date will be sometime in 2020. They also have been preparing the early access this year soon.

As far as they said on PAX East other than Baldur’s Gate release date and gameplay, this game only available on PC and Google Stadia, the new cloud game service from Google. Judging from the previous titles, it’s almost impossible this game will release on console.
